• Consent Orders

Reach an agreement on the parenting arrangements for your children

Where both you and your former partner can reach agreement on the parenting arrangements for your children, the Family Court can make orders by consent.

The Court will assess your agreement to satisfy itself that your agreement is made in the best interests of your child/children. Generally, you will not be required to attend court, but to submit your agreement for the Court’s approval.

If the Court is satisfied your agreement is in the best interests of the child it will approve the consent orders. Court orders will be sealed and both you and your former partner will be sent copies. As these are orders of the Court they are legally enforceable.

If you have reached agreement with your former partner relating to the ongoing care of your children and would like to formalise the agreement get in touch with us and make a time to talk with one of our expert family lawyers.
