Putting your children’s best interests first

When a relationship breaks down no one wins. Where there are children of that relationship they become unwilling participants in a major life event, the scars of which will last their lifetime.

Separation is a particularly stressful and emotionally unsettling period for children. The extent to which children are affected depends on any number of things like their age, the closeness of the relationship with their parents, their own behaviours and the degree of cooperation, or otherwise, of their parents following the separation.

There are several things you’ll need to work through post separation and agree in respect of your children. In doing so it is essential you put your children’s best interests before both yours and you ex partners.
